Pack rats are certainly active this time of year, along with pretty much every other time of year. We have one customer’s home in Gold Canyon that could definitely be an example of just how active the rats are. While we have bait boxes placed all over their yard, and by their air conditioning units, some pesky rats have decided to make the ac units their new home. Well, they chewed the wires in both units! Keep in mind that these customers only live here during the winter, so there is not constant monitoring going on, like there would be with a home that someone lives in year round.

So the rats moved in, and built their nests inside the ac, the wires were chewed, the owners of the the home were alerted, and an air conditioning tech was sent out. He cleaned out the units, and repaired the wires, and also covered the wires with aluminum foil. This wasn’t the best idea considering rodents are attracted to aluminum foil. Needless to say, shortly after being repaired, the wires were once again chewed up. Well, the problem will finally be resolved this week when we rodent proof the air conditioning units.
